Dog Breeding………..?

 Dog Breeding...........?

Ok so there's a huge problem with puppymills, back yard breeders, overpopulation of dogs, hundreds getting euthanised etc etc

Ok so only champion dogs who are health tested should be bred and only bred by reputable breeders and all others should be spayed and neutered yes? But if you were to buy a dog from a reputable breeder and say I want to show it then you have a reason not to spay or neuter right? But you could quite easily then go and breed.

So if everyone (apart from those reputable breeders) should spay their dogs to stop the overpopulation, why isn't something done about changing the rules so your dog doesn't have to be entire to be shown in the ring?

If that was the case then it could be compulsory to spay / neuter for everyone apart from real breeders. If this was actually enforced and there were proper laws put in force so that the only puppies available to buy should be from these breeders and anyone caught selling any other pups would be penalised would this not combat the overpopulation and a lot of cruelty?

Plus if only reputable breeders were selling then pups would be going to good homes and not irresponsible people who don't know how to have a dog or want them for fighting or whatever.

I know that even if laws like this were put in place there would still be people breeding but if it was properly enforced then a lot less would do it. Just to note - I'm not against mixed breeds or 'mutts' just against irresponsible people getting dogs and cruelty to animals.

Thoughts on this please? Will the government ever put laws on spay/neuter/ breeding? Sorry bit of a rant just wanted to put it out there!
2 yrs off 2 yrs on sounds like a good plan, but then you'd still have people who let their dogs wander off when they're in heat.

As for detering people who buy from puppymills - educating people who care about animals on this subject would make this work, but the people who don't and want a dog as a guard dog or to breed for money or to fight would still buy from them.

Its up to the people who are buying the puppy’s to STOP supporting the puppy mills etc. If people INSISTED on only buying health tested puppy’s from reputable breeders there would be no market. Whilst the "demand" for cheap puppy’s exists, the nasty dirty business will continue to supply. Its supply and demand.
