exactly what type of fertilizer, herbicide is harmful to dogs and children?

I've got a new lawn with some weeds and would like to zap em. what exactly is harmful to children and dogs. i've got an indoor dog, and a 3 month old so neither are out in the yard but it would be useful information to know.
according to scotts annual program i would use...

The 2 turfbuilders Plus 2 are considered safe after putting them down on wet lawn and letting them sit for 24 hours. Then after that once you have had one good rainfall and it has DRIED it is considered safe. The product sticks to what it dried on.
Same for the others. Don’t let anyone on them until after thay have dried. Then they are considered safe.
I personally wait for 2 or 3 rainfalls just to make extra sure that there is no residue left in any appreciable amount. And in today’s world you are going to get exposed to some chemicals. When they spray for mosquitoes, when you buy some broccoli that has been sparayed in the field, or corn there is residue in ppm or ppb. It’s wise to restrict your exposure but you’ll never elimate it. As I say, the chemicals above are considered safe if used as directed.
