Is it true that it is better to breed your dog at the male’s house? We are trying to breed my toy poodle?

we are trying to breed my Toy poodle
and they brought the male over to the house. But nothing happened. The males owner said that it was better to breed the dog at the male dog's house but we don't know if that is true?
Approximately how long does it take?

Please, please please don’t breed your dog! There are too many dogs euthanized every day to bring more into this world without a good reason! If you need to get help on Yahoo Answers you shouldn’t be breeding!
