Getting a new puppy and old dog to get along?

I just brought a new puppy into my house with my older dog. The older dog is very sweet unless people get in his face (he was abused before we got him) and the new puppy doesnt get that. hes growled at her several times but im worried hell bite her. i wonder if anyone knows a way to get them to atleast to be in the same room without growling if not being able to get along?

just slowly introduce them. let them sniff and explore each other a little bit. my dogs were like this at first, and then they got along great.
